For the residents on Terrace St and others on "the hill", this bridge serves a shortcut for walking into town. Just across the bridge sits St. Johns Catholic Church built for the Irish congregation in 1876. Under this bridge The Delaware Lackawaxen & Stourbridge Railroad operates its excursion train, "The Stourbridge Line" , originally started by the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce. The train has provided over a million passengers with breathtaking views along the Lackawaxen River since it's beginning back in 1979. Previous to that the Erie Lackawanna Railroad operated both freight and passenger trains. The D& H Canal Company sent thousands of canal boats through here on their way to and from the Hudson River and continuing on to New York City.
Write the first letter of the first name of the late Honesdale Borough Councilman man that this bridge was dedicated to when it was replaced in 1992 in space # 23 on your scavenger hunt entry form.
Take a stroll across the bridge and admire the beautiful church directly in front of you and click the button below.
