A story that brought a smile to Dan's face was during a live-fire training exercise. Dan was riding on the side of a Huey, strapped in and standing on the running board. As they made their final approach to the firing range, they were greeted with a BIG surprise! Alongside the Huey came an A10 Warthog that proceeded to fire its Gatling gun and obliterate the target. Dan would say how you could not hear the A10 coming over the noise of the Huey but every fiber in his body felt the pressure from the gun being fired. He would have liked to be riding in the A10 while it made its attack run. Dan lived in Wayne County for 39 years where he had a career in managerial positions in manufacturing. He was an avid supporter of several local organizations such as Boy Scout Troop #1, Habitat for Humanity, and Masonic Lodge #218.
