Their history began in 1930 when the original diner was delivered by truck to Honesdale, Pennsylvania and was situated on an empty lot at 920 Main Street. The incorporation of the "railroad car look" and use of the word diner were efforts by manufacturers to streamline designs identified with speed and efficiency. The enlarged and renovated the structure now houses Scarfalloto's Towne House Diner. Write the number of the railcar that is noted on the Bluestone plaque on line # 31 on your scavenger hunt entry form. Turn and head back to the Visitors Center but take note of the last part of your tour by looking across the street at the Elegante/Known Grove building and clicking the button below.
