This "cool" stone structure was built to house miscreants in the 1800's. A tour here on select weekends will enlighten and educate you on how things really were back then, when the sheriff's wife cooked the meals, heat was only provided by a coal stove in the main hall, escapee stories, and much more. Be sure to pay close attention when they talk about the flood.
In 2004 the Wayne County Historical Society presented the Historic Preservation Award to a man for his efforts to preserve this property. Write the first letter of his last name in space #12 on your entry blank.
