Politics have always been an issue! Click on the picture to learn about the background of how and when this was built. Later in the tour you will hear how the courthouse brought about our local newspaper which is still in existence.
In 1879 the commissioners resolved to complete the building and hired a company from Berwick to finish the courthouse, write the first letter of the last name of the company who finished the building in space # 13 on your scavenger hunt form.
Just a few steps away is a building which was the original Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale Gospel Tabernacle, and now owned by the county used for offices. Take a moment to pay respects at the 911 Memorial. On that tragic day in 2001, Honesdale felt the anguish as every American, but had even closer ties since several local residents commute to work in the city. Click on button below for next page.
