This site has quite a history, and now a place to stop and reflect on a day that changed the world. The photo shown "Never Forget" was taken on a day of remembrance. A local grandmother paused with her grandson to remind him how life can change in the blink of an eye. I believe that it is important that we teach our youth about history and how it changes the way that we live our lives. Read the plaque on the monument and write where the steel is from in space # 14 on your scavenger hunt form.
Check out the memorial near the sidewalk honoring Military Women. This was the first monument honoring military women in the state, spearheaded by Honesdale’s very own Kim Erickson, who just happens to be the 2023 Pennsylvania Remarkable Woman recipient. Proceed back across Central Park while taking notice of the white house across Church St. to the right of the brick building with columns. That is where Dick Smith once lived with a beautiful view of the park which later led to his inspiration to write the sone "Winter Wonderland". See historical marker on the front lawn. and proceed to the Dime Bank on the corner of 9th and Church St.
